We were a party of 12 women, 9th May 08 Friday night for 10.30pm table booked in advance. No-one in the place when we arrived & nobody came in after either. Two young men served us appallingly. We had to ask for napkins as there were none on the table. Only the girls who asked got one & they were cheap white thin paper napkins.  I use the term 'napkin' but they were really thin party serviettes. We were offered poppadums & drinks but were not asked if we wanted starters, dessert, coffee or anything extra.  We all ordered, were really hungry & looking forward to our meals but were all disappointed with the food when it arrived. We were served in a hap hazard manner also with dishes arriving in a crazy order. The waiters when we finished our meal put all the big lights on before even giving us our Bill, saying that they closed at midnight.  We paid the Bill without leaving a tip as it was undeserved. I had  a Chicken dish which seemed to have ready prepared sliced chicken in it. I thought Shimla Pinks was supposed to be a cut above the rest but I have had better Asian ready meals.  We were all very disappointed all round & sadly you have lost 12 customers for ever. We were not drunks either, some of us are even pensioners.

I, like may others, had heard good things about Shimla Pinks. I must admit that the  decor is a bit dreary, the staff are not particularly friendly and Phileas Fogg circumnavigated the globe in less time than it took for our meals to arrive, but the food was of superb quality when it did eventually come. Slightly smaller than expected portions, but a good meal none the less.

We'd heard of the restaurant many times before and knew it was a renowned business, so went there for a friday night treat. as a cider lover my first disappointment came when they had none, and when ordering gin&tonic and ask for a slice of lime they were out of that too :( the staff were uninterested. i ordered a lamb sagwala and out came chicken, my friend (not keen on spicy curry) ordered chicken tikka masala and it was almost the spiciest on the table! my boyfriend ordered a special and could barly eat it due to the hot and spicy nature which defintely was not stated! naan breads were of pittiful size, and for the 'stature' and prices in this place, it surely was not up to scratch!

We were looking forward to eating at Shimla Pinks (Dec 07) in Solihull being under the impression that it was a bit special....to our horror it was AWFUL!! Awful decor - cheap and boring, awful staff - unprofessional and scruffy, awful g&t - the one bit of ice in it was the size of a 20p coin and no lemon (not sure there was much gin either) and food was not exactly awful BUT certainly was nothing to get excited about. All in all a really dull, boring, over-rated restuarant. This was especially galling when you read the 'meaning' of Shimla Pinks' being the Indian version of a 'Sloan Ranger' and everything is of highest standard...hahah I don't think so. Def won't being going back.......

Dire. The service was dreadful.  We were brought our main course whilst still eating our starter!!  Surly, uninterested staff.  The worst place I've ever been to.

The most amazing indian food ive ever eaten, as a veggie i usually have to pick from quite a poor menu but this was a refreshing change. Absolutely divine.

Shimla Pinks Birmingham was our favourite Indian restaurant when we lived in the City Centre so were pleased that when we moved to Solihull that there is another one here.  However BEWARE!!!  This is not a patch on the Birmingham restaurant.  The staff were rude and the food caused my wife to have a very sleepless night (no need to expand on the details).  The Solihull version really doesn't deserve to wear the once reknowned Shimla Pinks name.

The food here is nowhere near as good as Sherwoods or Knowle Indian Brasserie, anyone who knows a qood quality indian meal made from fresh herbs, would know that the type of food served here is not of a very high standard.  Discerning clients beware - do not eat here!!!

If you want a curry do not go to this place, make your way to the shades of raj instead. or even a boxed curry from asda would be more enjoyable than eating at this overhyped, overpriced mess.

Shimla Pinks is for those of us who prefer a little more sophistication with our curry, both in terms of the quality of the food and the environment itself. I'm afraid the bring your own beer and squirly carpet curry house has no place in central Solihull and Shimla Pinks has changed the way people think about indian restaurants. The food is superb and on a par with the Arden Tandoori in Henley, the other great local indian.

Sorry, 2nd visit confirmed the first. This is overpriced for the service you get.
Stick to a standard curry house and take your own beer. They charge five quid a pint here, but I had to walk up to the bar to get service as the staff were more interested in talking to each other than waiting on the customers. Only redeeming feature is the food wasn't standard curry, but portions were mean and one of the dishes on the set meal was nasty slop.

Staff less surly than in Broad Street. Service generally good though one still can gets the impression that the staff find customers a bit of a nuisance!
Unsurprisingly, the menu is far less comprehensive than at it's big brother in Birmingham, although the food is quite superb.
