Lovely atmosphere, really good value meals, (nothing special just
traditional pub stuff). Never any trouble. Deals on every day. Tables
could be cleaned a bit more often but overall its a great place.

Was in there on 26 feb to see a live band called Crimson Jack, WOW
i don't think the pub was expecting the show crimson jack was putting
on. Loud but very good the manager did well to book the gig. Big guy
with good contacts for entertainment. over all though it was a great
night

Sad to see all the bad comments. I was around when it first opened
its doors on the site of a field that had a horse in it! It was really
different and fresh then. Sounds like its memory has been ruined. Shame
as its in a great position. Should do lots better.

Not been in the Sharmans for approx 5yrs but was back in the area
for Christmas so was looking forward to revisiting my old 'playground'.
Made plans to go in on Christmas Eve with some old mates. It used to be
lively, busy, a fun place full of people enjoying the festive period,
bar staff always used to look like they where loving working there and
made an effort with fancy dress during the holidays...oh dear, what a
let down. The pub was empty compared to the good old days and I've felt
a better party atmosphere at a funeral. Glad I was there when it was
good. My advice is spend your money elsewhere.
However, it was great to catch up with some old faces who are loyal &
still drinking there.

As regular users of this pub (at least we used to be) My husband and
I are so disappointed with the way it is going. Children running around
after 9pm on a week day, very poor quality food, dirty carpets, sticky
tables, toilets in a state of disrepair, need I go on!? The pub is in a
good area and the only local in the area, this should be a fantastic
pub! The pub is in need of a total renovation spend some money on it and
us locals will spend our money in it!!!

We used to really enjoy this pub, funny, lively characters once but all
seems so sad now, what a shame!

Very sad that John and Lawrence no longer run the quiz. We were regular
quizzers on a Tuesday and will miss them. We all feel that the
Sharmans Cross has gone down hill in the last 18 months. There seems to
be fewer tables and chairs although these may have been pushed more
together to make way for a dart board. It feels more like a working
man's club.
Bring back the Sharmans Cross of a few years back with lovely home made
pies at lunch time instead of all this mass produced pub food.

Nice pub decent priced drinks bit food not best but cheap! Some starters
are ok but burgers are awful - plain and sad!!
And what's with the staff asking "who's next?!!" a good bar person will
know who is next and waiting rather than having to ask - that is
ridiculous and very poor service and a joke - the manageress should
address this - where else would bar staff ask this - it's basic's of the
job! But a nice atmosphere and can't say that I have ever seen any
trouble in there.

Used to be a great pub with a great atmosphere but things have taken a
turn for the worse. Why wont the brewery spend any money on this pub?
Its looking really shoddy, this is making people go elsewhere. Do they
have cleaners? There has been confetti on the floor in the ladies since
Christmas!! What's happened to the Saturday night entertainment? Used to
have amazing tribute acts which pulled loads of people in but now
there's usually just a disco/dodgy karaoke - awful. The regulars & staff
(most of them) are really friendly & make this place. It looks like M&B
are doing their best to ruin the sharmans...you have to spend money to
make money you fools...

What has happened to the live music here over the last 6 months? it used
to have great tribute bands on. Now all we get is cheap singing acts and
disco's. Roll on a new manager who can bring it back up to been a great
pub on a Saturday night like it used to be

This pub is bl**dy awful, since the new manageress has taken over its
gone rapidly downhill, the staff need some managing and training, they
have no idea who to serve or in what order, all they ever say is who's
next. The tables are always dirty, usually covered in empty glasses but
even if they remove these the tables never get a wipe. The staff would
rather stock shelves or disappear to the kitchens rather than serve
staff. All pint glasses are stored at one end of the bar meaning the
staff have to walk to the end every time for a fresh glass, this place
is shoddily run. Get new management.

Many years ago when John & Wendy had the Sharmans it was a proper local
pub (1980+) Pete.T, Joe.M, John.D, John.H, Cheese Cob, Tony.B, John.M,
Billy.M, many many more early doors, great days, oh, to be back there.
Gil.V then (Radbourne rd) now Crete...................

All bad I'm afraid. Observations from another publican: The staff need
training. They will stack shelves rather than serve waiting customers.
The staff hold the top of the glass when pulling beer - no no no - the
top 1/3 of the glass belongs to the customer. What if they have been to
the loo and not washed their hands? The management do not know how to
keep cask ale - I have rarely had a good pint here. I would not go
there if it were not for a club to which I belong. We are looking for
an alternative venue.

Fantastic pub. Entertainment is great on a Saturday night. Quiz
night on a Tuesday is also very entertaining. A great meeting place for
friends. Never any trouble in there. Food is delicious, although could
be served later than 20.00.

It is a big big smoke
trap - lots of youngsters puffing away. u will leave with the
'authentic' Sharmans smell of cigs! much worse than most pubs, for some
unknown reason!

The Sharmans - I don't really have to say much more the place
is a shining example to all local meeting places and must make a
fortune, never any trouble, good bar staff and oversized glasses filled
with carling cold or Stella on a Friday! I love the place no wonder I
have been there 2/3 times every week for 4 years...

I have been going to the Sharmans every Sunday night for the
past two years and think the atmosphere there is great. The staff are
friendly and approachable, and lovely surroundings since the
refurbishment. Great place for a quiet drink and chat with friends (
except for the ghastly karaoke night once a month- really, why?)

I used to live at 47 Sharmans Cross rd. I have only visited
the "Cross" on trips to the U.K. ,Last time in 1996, good lunches and
beer then. In the 1950's my local was the Green Bar at the back of the
George Hotel . I now live at 108 mile ranch, British Columbia. When did
Neil Wildman move to Calgary ? Cheerio for now.

I find this charm less pub full of very young drinkers almost
on a nightly basis. The management seem to want to encourage this. My
opinion is please avoid, Woodmans has much more character.

A good local pub. Reasonably priced drinks plus a good lively
atmosphere. Recently refurbished to give it a more modern look.

Love the way the decorators painted round the pictures in the main
entrance (ha ha), rumour has it they couldn't operate a screwdriver
(wonder how they opened the paint tins?)
Sad Corner
The Jazz Band that played during the Jazz Festival were a pleasant
surprise as I hadn't conceived my toe would tap to such music but the
day was great as was the atmosphere. Good to see the Sharmans cares so
much about the community that it participates in this kind of social
entertainment, the Quiz is also a favourite of mine. The new food menu
is to die for, read this quickly, switch off your computer and try the
new menu...QUICK!!

I meet there with friends whenever I come home from uni cos the atmosphere is nice, the
food is great, its easy to have a chat rather than shout over the music and the tall
barman is gorgeous.

No atmosphere, if you're looking for a traditional English pub don't go.
And you're not allowed to wear caps.

Sharmans is a great local! Good atmosphere.
We go every Sunday and Wednesday. Dave fancies all the bar maids!
Could be better with a karaoke night

Would enjoy stopping in on my way home from work, enjoyed the curry and Stella Artois, the

barmaids o.k. Good fruit machines.

Nice little pub! Reasonably priced beer. Good in the winter if you get on the soafers by
