Handmade Burger Co. Touchwood, Solihull
Ok, so if you're one of the few people in Birmingham and Solihull that
hasn't tried the amazing burgers at The Handmade Burger Co. then shame on
you. ever since i went to their restaurant in Bindley place last year,
I've been hooked. I've been trying to work my way through their massive
menu for a long time now, and am not even half way through it. I highly
recommend it, and now they've opened one in Touchwood its even easier
for us small town Solihull shoppers to get to it. There's no excuses)

The NDN, Shirley High street
Superb food in a relaxed, clean and comfortable environment. Attentive
and unfussy service that doesn't try to be over-friendly. Excellent
value set-priced specials all week. Portions are not the biggest but we
never leave this restaurant hungry. Food is terrifically well cooked and
delicate - unlike some places where all the curries taste the same!
More people should go here as it's quiet most nights.

Pizza Hut
When I went here for a birthday party I found pizza hut a very good
place to eat. There were 5 of us and although one of the food arrived
later then the others I would recommend it to others.

Lake at Barston
Went to see a Soul & Motown tribute (why did the band end up in black
vests??) Food bland, asked for water on the table and the waitresses
brought the glasses with her finger inside. The waitress when clearing
the table asked for plates to be passed to her. Lovely venue, just let
down by food & service. Shame really.

Thai Village in Knowle
This is a fabulous authentic Thai restaurant and the food is cooked in
authentic flavours, it was delicious. The staff are beautiful and polite
people and it is a pleasure to be in a restaurant of such a high calibre
of decoration and great service

The Boat Inn at Catherine de Barnes
A real shame that the Boat doesn't provide
a full waitress service. Especially when you take a party of 13 for a
75th birthday meal and have to take orders from your party yourself,
then go to the bar to order starters and main courses, then repeat this
for the puddings! Considering some of the main meals cost in excess of
£15.00 I would have expected a better service, or just some kind of
service.
Onto the food, my duck with apple sauce had a wonderful sauce but the
duck had burnt skin and had clearly been left on a hot plate to dry out.
Vegetables were over cooked and limp. The starter of sesame coated
chicken skewers was fine but excessively priced at £4.55. A fine
chocolate torte bought a little light relief to a disappointing
occasion.
A great shame that a pub that clearly has the potential to be an
excellent restaurant doesn't work that little harder to please and
impress. Having spent over £300 within a few hours I would have expected
more.

Dal Forno, Tile House Lane, Whitlocks End
The owner is extremely rude and has an
attitude problem if you are not one of his regulars, the waitress was
embarrassingly bad & did not even know what Chianti was, and the food
goes down in my book as one of the worst. I would advise anyone to go to
Sainsbury's instead and cook your own.

Fleur de Lys, Lapworth
In the past I have had some nice
food in this canal - side pub, although it's always a bit on the pricy
side. So now it has gone non-smoking throughout my family and I decided
to splash out on a late Sunday meal. I was appalled at the choice and
quality of food. The only half decent dish had between 6 people was a
steak and chips! Famous for their pies, mine was okay, but was spoilt
by overcooked cabbage and carrots on the side as well as re - heated new
potatoes; easy to distinguish from the freshly cooked ones mixed in with
them! The one vegetarian dish on the menu was a tasteless pasta, and
the roasted chicken had more salt in it than the dead sea. I do hope
this nice pub sorts its food out as it is has a lovely cosy atmosphere,
but until I hear reports of improvement I'll stick to just having a
drink; I'll eat elsewhere.

The Punch Bowl at Lapworth
We had a great meal, John Dory
fish chicken pasta with dolcalette chocolate crunch pudding to name but
a few items on the menu. Lovely atmosphere easy listening soulful Eryka
Baddu playing in the background, but not to loud so that you could hear
each other speak . The decor held a lovely balance of contemporary with
mixed with old style. Our waitress was great and all plates were
cleaned.
