Both me and my husband had a really enjoyable evening, we have visited 3 times in the last 3 months for a family meal, as well as a birthday meal which had to cater for 10+ people and as a romantic anniversary meal. We have always had an enjoyable experience. the food was melt in the mouth and the staff are very friendly. would highly recommend to everyone.

Good value especially 2 for£10.  Tables feel sticky but are wiped over regularly.  Worst thing is the sweets -what a rip off!! Do not have Milkshake Cheesecake - overpriced and awful

We visited this restaurant on a lovely Saturday afternoon when the sun was in the middle of the sky, and it's rays beating upon our backs; and necks. As you can tell this was a lovely day, and we wanted to enhance it with a lovely meal! We walked in through the main entrance, and we were greeted by a short man, whose name I can not seem to remember but he was definitely some kind of manager. As we tried to find a table the short man mentioned previously, stalked us and told us to sit.  We found a table in the family area which was really nice, however there is obviously potential for a refurb; it is greatly needed! So, overall it was a pleasing visit the young staff were aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and were really great.  The short guy was a little bit weird and sorta brought down the experience BUT i did really like it.  Food top notch, drinks.. (slightly expensive but worth the flavour).. the desserts (we only had one because we were full from the mains.) were good too, very well presented. So i would recommend this to anyone pretty much.. maybe see you all there :)

My wife and i came with a large party of 30 friends of ours as we were celebrating an anniversary. A short young man called Mark served our table and he was that professional with the speed of service and this man made our evening. He was so polite and had the restaurant organised not one person waited which was unusual as it was Sunday lunch time, this man was fantastic and i have been in the trade for thirty years and would have no hesitation in employing him.

Been here a few times on and off, food is always luke warm, possibly due to the kitchen being a long way from the restaurant. I ordered the Vegetarian option and got a plate of chicken stew or something similar, not impressed and sent it back. If you want a quiet relaxing drink then avoid during the school holidays as it gets packed of noisy children.

Awful from start to finish. Person behind bar served everyone else but me even though I was second in the queue. After pointing out his error, he then chose to lecture me on retail, low staffing levels and another customer who came in with £80 of change (as if i care, just let me order please) Shockingly rude... A simple apology would have been sufficient. But the whole process of ordering food was now awkward and seemed like it went on forever. Food very substandard, small lukewarm portion, cold hard peas. The pub was even that cold I had to turn the radiators on before I sat down. Dessert was disgusting, too much apple pie crammed into a tiny bowl. Tasted cheap and nasty........
The Red Lion is a couple of minutes further down the road, little bit more pricey but worth every penny......

My wife and i came for lunch on Monday lunch time, we both sat in the bar area and could not believe what we had heard.
Their stood a small guy folding napkins and a tall man who we presume was the manager who spoke to the short guy as he was something on the end of his shoe, how he told him to shut his mouth and do his job was not right for any manager to speak to an employee. My wife and i had watched this short guy do everything, he was doing service, taking out meals and clearing tables as well as serving drinks. We have been here on three occasions and have always seen this guy serve with a smile and professionalism, but if i was this guy i would get out and work somewhere he would be appreciated. Our meal which we both had was the cod farther's which was good. On our departure i asked the short guy his name and he told us it was Mark and told him that we would be writing a letter to head office as the tall Manager was unprofessional.

After giving this place a wide berth for a while, we thought it was time to give it another chance to redeem itself. Unfortunately we shouldn't have bothered. This used to be a favourite haunt of ours some time ago, which is why we keep giving the place a chance but really now enough is enough. Firstly we have kids, so we called the pub on Monday to see if we came at 7oclock the following day if that was too late for the kids to play in the wacky warehouse. "absolutely, that will be fine" was the reply. So we invited some friends along as they also have kids. Sure enough when we arrived the Wacky warehouse was closed. Nobody seemed interested in the fact that we had called a day earlier to confirm. Our original plan was to end with us going into the main bar to have some dinner so that's what we did. Well. Dear Lord. We chose our seats, which was easy as only one other table was being used, (a sure sign the pub is doing well), then cleaned them with baby wipes so we could sit down. After waiting at the bar for the barman to arrive (this actually means he had to finish watching the football scores coming in. No joke we were watching him!), we sat down to peruse the menu. We ordered and waited for our food. I'm not quite sure what goes on the kitchen here, but they always bring the food out at different stages. This has happened many times before. After discovering 4 out of the 7 meals were lukewarm, we were well and truly fed up. It was at this point that a waiter came round and asked "is everything ok with the meal?" Honestly we just fell around laughing. We had hit rock bottom and couldn't be bothered to lodge the list of complaints. So after having half of the plates cleared whilst the rest of the table was still eating, then having to send an incorrect desert back because the barman had one eye on the barcelona result when taking the order, we left. And that is that. No more. What was once a great pub is now a dirty shell, poorly run without any soul.

My wife and I came for a meal and were greeted by a short man who was so professional and well organised that he stood out amongst the rest of the staff. This man could not do enough, the way he served and the way that this man controlled the restaurant was great.  The standards certainly have improved since we came in the summer. This man was good in the service that he provided us and his mannerism was exceptional, I had to ask the barman what his name was and I was told Mark, this man made our evening and we will be writing a letter to the Managing Director of punch taverns as he was unbelievable, we will definitely be coming again.

My family and I had such a good evening when we visited for a meal. A young man called Mark was so polite and his service was exceptional. If we had a restaurant we would employ him without hesitation. This visit is our first in approx 12 months but you can see that this young man is organised and loves his job and the standards have greatly improved.

I think the last posting was very harsh.  I visited the pub last Friday with a group of friends and found the meals to be excellent.  We had a wide range, from steak, chicken, faggots and fish and your only disappointment was taking so long to eat our main courses, it was far too late to order sweets.  The staff, both behind the bar and waiting, were friendly and efficient.

t has been some time since we visited this pub, in the past the food was always good. WHAT HAPPENED? We went on Sunday 1st Oct & my husband had a steak and ale pie. It looked good enough to eat but what a let down. It tasted HORRIBLE. The crust was like a tortoise shell, the chips were reheated and as for my meal, Italian Chicken more like a fast food burger than a restaurant meal yuk. The staff were helpful and gave a refund for my husbands meal but would not complain to the chef as "quote he is very stroppy and a big bloke". What does that mean! Never again

This was the worst meal I have had the misfortune to have purchase for a long time.  Vegetarian portion very small, other meals over salted.  Peas undercooked (how do you do that?). Burger advertised as full of salad, but no salad inside.  Chips tasted like reconstituted cardboard.  "Fresh" salad very tired and brown where the leaves had been cut.  Management aggressively defensive - no just plain aggressive.  Seats dirty; general air of neglect.  Watch out for the outside steps; dangerously uneven down to the external play area.

Looking at earlier comments all I can say is WHAT HAPPENED?
We went Saturday 25th August and all I can say is never again. The food was awful soggy prawn cocktail, no butter for the bread, small portions, the young kids who served us were out of their depth, they worked hard but with so many of us 30 at least they were pushed to the limit. May I recommend that if you are in this vicinity that you go to The Red Lion at Earlswood. We went on the Sunday and a totally different experience

We go there regular and usually its very good, the beer is expensive but the food is usually good apart from having to wait an hour for it sometimes. we went in today and my wife had a steak and ale pie, the pastry was really tough as was the meat and inedible her jacket tatty skin was also very rubbery but the inner was ok, we were offered a free coffee as compensation !!!! needless to say we refused

I have recently visited the pub and had to say the food was lovely. The member of staff that served us was very friendly i think his name was ollie. Very nice waiter and gave him a decent tip for the great service.

I hadn't been to this pub for over a year and was shocked to see how badly managed the pub had become.  The restaurant was dirty and untidy, we moved tables three times and then had to try and find two clean chairs as my last table had been covered in an unknown smelly liquid which was off putting to say the least.  I made comments to the waitress and received what i think was a grunt and a curse. we were wary when we first walked in as whilst at the bar two people were complaining and requested to see the manager.  Perhaps we should have left straight away but stayed. To be fair the food was not awful but the whole experience was just poor. At one time three members of staff were running about squirting each other with a spray cleaner bottle.  Is really a shame as this used to be a very special pub ideal for families.

Advertised as family pub but visited with friends and our children and were treated as second class citizens - no respect. Would never visit again.

The interior is impressive has that family feel to it.

I just hope that when the re-furbishment of this venue is complete that Paul the DJ will be coming back - adds a nice feel to Friday's.

Food is as always in this sort of place, never inspiring but always of a good quality, has the added advantage of being very tolerant of children. If you are looking for average food at average prices, this is the place to go, (no criticism intended). If you are looking for fine food and wine etc, something truly to challenge the palate, then this is not the place for you.
