I went with my family for my 21st Birthday.  The waitress was really nice and our food brought out in adequate timing.  I am very fussy with my food and made quite a few amendments to what was on the original menu choice.  This was accommodated very well and with no fuss.  When we ordered our dessert the waitress added sparklers and candles and gathered the waiters/waitresses to sing Happy Birthday to me, which was not originally requested, but a nice gesture.  Meals are good prices and will definitely be going back again!!

Very disappointed!!! i was brought up on visiting the plough with family for years.. i visited recently with my husband for our anniversary and we ordered a medium steak and a pasta dish.  Both meals arrived fairly quickly with the pasta dish being as lovely as expected, but my husbands steak was awful, it was such a tiny piece of meat it was laughable.. then when my husband starting eating it had been overcooked and had so much gristle with hardly any good meat to eat at all. My husband called over the waitress to show how bad the steak was and she kindly apologised and went to talk to the manager.  She then returned asking if she could get him another meal.  He decided to have the pasta and asked if my pasta could go back too as we wanted to be eating out anniversary meal together. She again went to speak to the manager who sent her back to question what was wrong with my meal. When the waitress returned i explained there was nothing wrong but that i just wanted us to have our meals together and by waiting mine would be cold.. Again another trip to the manager and on her return i was told my husbands pasta dish would be arriving very soon no reference to mine going back at all. My husband was fuming and had it not been for me not wanting the evening to be spoilt we'd have both walked out. We decided not to have a desert. Surprise surprise!! and got the bill. we just wanted to leave.  I was so upset that considering the manager knew we were there for our anniversary (not that the service should be any different) but surely a complimentary desert could have been offered as a kind gesture or at least the manager could have had the courtesy of talking to us himself.. I remember the days when managers would have been horrified by anything less of a good comment and would have gone out of their way to make sure you returned again, but sadly we wont be.. end of an era!!

We went there on Saturday, we didn't arrive until 8 and the restaurant was FULL! We were told they were taking bookings for 9 and were given a pager and went for drinks in the bar.  We didn't get called for the table until nearly 9:15 and were concerned about how much time we would have to eat and as anyone who goes to places like this will testify when the restaurant is that busy there is always a worry things run out, the service slips and the food is below standard! The table was lovely, our waitress come straight over to us and took a drinks order, the wine was chilled as was the beers and ciders ordered (classy I know).  They had everything we ordered food was amazing service top notch and we weren't rushed!  Love this place!!

On July 8th my parents had booked a table for 12.30, my mother told them she was in a wheelchair and it was better to put her on the tables where it was accessible which they did. we went into the bar for a drink first and the service was really awful, we waited alone at the bar for 3 drinks for 15 minutes, the port and lemon came with no lemonade, the lemon and lime was hardly that and the shandy was more pop than anything else, so we were very disappointed from the start.
I had phoned the Plough up from here ( Belgium) to ask what they did for birthdays, did they do cakes or flowers as of course from here I could not get anything arranged. No Rob said we do not, but we could do sparklers and party poppers and balloons, i said that was ok as my Mother was 80 years of age and it would be a nice surprise for her. When we got there there was nothing at all for her birthday and I was deeply disappointed by this as I had specially phoned from Belgium.
We sat down to order our meal and we wanted lamb and beef, there was none, only chicken or turkey, I order the mixed grill which was really good. My parents both ordered the roast chicken and when they saw the size of it were gobsmacked, it was just so big and they both said it's too much and could not eat it. The roast half chicken was enormous, vegetables were still hard and then the Yorkshire pudding, 2 big pieces that really covered half the plate. I had asked for a roast potatoes with mine and got chips!
Having said that the waitress, Trudy was really very nice and very polite. She was very attentive and friendly. I must say that we had not hardly finished our starters before the main course came along and we found the Plough to have been better in past years. Years ago we went almost every Sunday but i'm afraid we won't be going again.

We have only been in the Solihull  district for the past year and have been to the plough about 10 times. We have had to send back the food here only once as the fillet steak was extremely well done (it was a bank holiday!) but the other times our meals have been spot on, service very good and who cares about waiting the extra 5 minutes for a table they have a bar don't they?

The food is excellent, however the service while not bad is very inconsistent and nowhere near as good as it was in previous years.

Why is it whenever we go to the restaurant we are told we have to wait 20 mins before a table becomes available, yet one section is empty, totally laid and ready for use. We took our custom to the Shirley Temple.

Always a great meal here at very good prices, my wife and I and our friends have been eating here for over 3 years and have never had a bad meal, very friendly staff and a good delivery service if your feeling too lazy to go out. You really must try it !! Friendly atmosphere, relaxed surroundings, altogether a very pleasant evening, excellent service, what more could you ask for . Ideal for special occasion's and family celebration's.

Myself and my wife had a meal there the other night.  The fillet steak was the best we have tasted in 10 years of going to steak pubs. Its nice to see a chef that knows what he is doing for a change.

Further to my review in October, I would also like to point out that despite a letter of complaint to the Manager (and a follow up call), I have received no reply. Clearly the management at this establishment are as substandard as their restaurant.

A friend and I decided to visit this restaurant on a Monday night for a quick bite before going to the cinema.  We walked in from the side entrance, through to the main entrance not really sure where to go, and were ignored by all staff. Eventually greeted after 3 mins we were told to wait 20 mins or less before a table would be given to us. (Not sure why as only 20% of the restaurant was full and all tables were laid up)50 mins later after being ignored my 5 members of staff for a further half an hour we were seated. The waitress walked off half way through our order. As a waitress my self I found all staff inattentive, patronising although the food was quite good!  We missed the cinema.

Dreadful. We were told the wait for a table was half an hour. One and a half hours later we were finally seated. When I went to enquire about the waiting time, I was ignored by 3 members of staff before finally being told that the restaurant was busy and they were doing their best to get our table ready. All well and good, but the restaurant was in fact half empty and I could see at least 5 tables fully laid. Once we were finally seated the service was adequate and the food nicely cooked. However, the waitress soon turned sour when we didn't leave her a tip. All in all a most unpleasant experience. The refurb is dreadful, dull and drab, the place has no character. We will most certainly NOT be eating at the Plough again.

Worked there part time for almost 2 years, since the refurbishment its great, food selection is both original and broad, Tony the head chef is quite possible the best chef in the country and cooks the best food, go on a Saturday night to get Tony cooking ya food bab! bar food is average however! try the BBQ sauce, best ever!!! Chicken can sometimes be pretty dry for some peoples liking and stop moaning about the side garnish of salad on starters people, its a garnish of about 3 leaves, its not meant to be top quality, your paying for the chicken or whatever not the well placed leaves. ask for a booth seat, best tables are 5,7,18,25,35,36,37,
Enjoy people!!! I'm seasonal staff cos I'm at uni so I may be serving you soon!!!

My regular. Good bar staff, all very friendly - we know them too much. You get 17 chips with a side order of chips so best order the cheesy chips - you can't taste the cheese as it's cheap cheese but you get more chips for an extra 50p.

Changed my mind on this place after the refurbish / changes of management.
There is no soul or spirit in this place now. The prices of drinks are far to high.
The bar service sucks (a trained monkey could do a better job) and all the staff hate their jobs. It was mucho better before it turned into a plastic pub with crap management. One to avoid!

Nice interior, friendly service, plenty of choice on the menu...but salad starter was dry, wilting and bland and glass of white wine served at room temperature - uh! Things picked up with mains - marlin nicely cooked.
They just need to work on the details.
