We left in 2006, our form room was lost in the fire, we had some good
laughs before it went. ha ha. Mr Garrett was our form tutor. Linzi
had a new record for new form teachers and Jo did too. A total number
of 9 ish in five years. We are now studying at Solihull Sixth Form
College studying BTEC Art and Design.

Hi I'm trying to locate a few people- was moved down to Dorset by
parents after St James' and lost touch the year before we would have
all gone up to Light Hall or TG. Not sure which they all went to or if
they split- would have left the school in 2001. Their names are:
Jennie Beattie, Emma D'arcy, Lizzie Burn, Lorna Patrick and James
Whyte. Please let me know if you have any info. Thanks x

I started Lighthall on Thursday 5th September 2002. I was very scared I
thought I would get lost loads of times. Rachel Maybury my best friend was
with me when we walked into our form room. We had Mr Penrose who is really
nice, and the day flew by. As we walked out of the school we told each other
how fun our first day was. Both of us will not forget it!

in '99 from 11E? or were in Mr Penrose's art class? Or even...went to
Shirley Heath Junior School? By the way, I'm back in Hong Kong...if

message. I wonder how the teachers are...Mr Wills / Ms Holloway / Mrs
Vaughton / Mr P. (Star Trek) / Mr Jones...and many many more~~~

I left Lighthall in 1995, and would like to contact some of the 5th

happened to them or still speaks to them let me know. P.S Mr Pearce
was fit!!!!
Jessica Edwards (Taylor)

long time email me be great to hear from you
Damian Green
I graduated from Light hall in 1999, and am now living in Australia. I
just heard the sad news of the fire and am very upset. I had a
fantastic time at Light Hall, it was a great school with dedicated
teachers. And i want to show my appreciation for all the teachers'
hard work, especially Mrs Coultas who was my form teacher for many
years and how she put up with all my talking!!! Just a note to
say best wishes for the re-building of the school and good luck to the
students getting ready to take their exams in the coming months. It
was very lucky your GCSE coursework was saved. Thanks
Tracey Cummings
Didn't actually go to Lighthall - but I'm trying to find some info on
somebody who did. Her name was Becky Robinson and she left Lighthall
in either 1993 or 1994. She lived on Streetsbrook Road. I worked with
Becky for about a year (1994-1995) and lost touch when she left. I've
always wondered what happened to her and what she's up to now. If
anybody has info please e-mail me as I'd love to say hi to her and
catch up. Thanks!
Garry Anderton
Hello!! we went to lighthall from 1998 - 2003..
Rosie Walton & Becki Turton
Lighthall rocks! Best school ever, I went there from 95 to 2000.
Neil Beck
I was not a pupil there, but Hi to some of my mates.
Andy Barton
I was there between 91'-96'. Everyone used to say that school days are the
best of your life & they're right, Especially this place. Mr Cole (Mr Bean)
was the music teacher then.
Paul Thomas
I would like to here from anybody who attended Lighthall School from
89-94.
It only seems like yesterday since I was there!! Those were the days!!!
Pete Fumagalli
I was at Lighthall for only a very short time, I believe it was was in
1991 (Year 7). I had returned to England with my father from Australia approx 1988-89 and
had attended Peterbrook Primary (where there were approx 6-7 Davis's at one time) until
Lighthall. I am desperately looking for my closes friend from school Beth Hodgson (I
believe that is the spelling) as I lost contact with her after returning to Australia
again in 1992.
Annalisse Davis
I was there between 1986 and 1991. I have never worn bottle green
since!!
Hi if you know who I am and hi if you don't. Never the most
enthusiastic pupil but managed to graduate from Bath University 6 years ago.
Hated drama class more than anything and guess what - 4 years ago I
had my first appearance on stage in a production of Seven brides and
Seven brothers for Birmingham and Midland Operatic Society - purely
for fun won't dream of claiming to be anywhere near a good standard.
Life ... who can ever predict it eh ?
Emma Clifton
08 February - I am getting married in a few months time and was showing
my fiancée where I grew up. I was at Lighthall from '85-'90 and then at Solihull VIth
Form from '90-'92. I have been living down in Surrey for the past 5 years and don't get
back to Shirley a lot anymore.
Just wondered what any old Lighthall pupils of my year were up to?

Hi Everyone - left School 1984. I came across this web site after
having to speak to the school, concerning a job they have booked with
my company (Johnsons! in Henley in Arden) I've recently came to the
company in June07 after working for Brtish Gas (Blythe Valley)13yrs,
both office based. I not moved much from my home town and now living
in Knowle, Solihull. would be great! to hear from anyone that might
know me or possibly my cousins, Chris/Steve Rose.

Found this site by accident, as you do. I was nicely surprised by all
the names that were so familiar to me, and there were plenty. I used
to hang around with Pat Teale, Lynne Jones, Yvonne Wood, Sue
Pendleton, Chris Wright, Mel White, Debbie Atkins and a few others if
I remember rightly. I get confused these days!! I now live back in
Shirley after a small absence of living in Birmingham for about 16
years. I am married and have a daughter. If anyone wants to contact me
feel free, would love to hear from you.
Ann Cooper (nee Jenkins)
Hi!
Does anyone remember the remedial class 4 B ? Yes, the
phisically dangerous, the mentally disturbed. We were hidden behind
the back of the gymnasium and the only teacher brave enough to
confront us was Mr Shearman. In this select group was yours
faithfully Phillip Edwards, Michael
Evans, Stuart alias Jaegger, and some of the meanest girls I have met
and still dream about.... nightmares: Sharon Cusick, Tracy Nuttings,
Wendy Walker. Please if you are out there, contact me. I finally
escaped the UK and made my way to Chile. I am happily married, living
in Santiago with two lovely children. All the best, Lets hear it for
the remedials!

Hello if any one remembers me from Light Hall, years 83-88 ..then get in
touch... Hazel Johnson I remember you but the e-mail address you have left is
wrong. Please get in touch with me.
Jonathan Ford
I went to Lighthall from 1983 to 1988. I would love to hear from
anyone who remembers me. It was during the time Mr Scard was headmaster. Hope anyone
who went there is still doing fine.
Hazel Johnson (No email address supplied)
Anyone out there remember me? I was at Peterbrook Juniors (78 - 81) in
Solihull Lodge and then Lighthall from 1981 to 1986.
Reading through some of the comments on the page like cross country runs in the woods at
the back and the island where the big kids smoked is making me go a bit misty eyed. I'm
living in Turin now and have been in Italy for a couple of years. People I remember are
Correna Lewis, Wendy Beech, David Marlow (he was my best man and we're still in touch),
Ian Ward, Nigel Woodward, Ian Brawn, Jason Parker ("Scruff"), Oliver Astle
Jones, Rhys Amarallis, Natalie Deemer, Claire Jones, Justine Shaw, Donna Millard, Simon
Charles, Phillip Smith, Michael Toddington, Brian Rowe, Gregory Nash and Vicky
Littlejohns. Teachers - Mr. Hughes( scary French teacher ), Mr. Meacham ( nice English
teacher with ginger hair and bottle jar glasses ), Mr. Lewis ( music teacher with shades
of Noel Edmonds ), Mr. Slater ( very scary ) and Messrs Hinks and Kolwaski ( the sadistic
games teachers ).
So drop me a line if you remember me because I'm getting all nostalgic!
Gavin Hogg
Anyone out there from the years 1980-85? I was in Mrs. Horton's form in
years 4 and 5.(now deceased I believe). She always called us a "wishy-washy
class" for some reason.
Glenn Devey
I was in Lighthall between 1980 - 85 and would love to hear from anyone who
remembers me.
Karen Morris
I was at Light Hall from 79 to 84 and was often known as Copsy! I
remember hearing the famous "and they called him melon head"
speech from
Greenfield. Mrs Hunt slippered me for smoking. Nearly twenty years on finally
managed to
give up and am living in Germany for my sins. Can't remember the name of my form teacher
- but she always said we were the worst class she'd ever had. Does that jog any memories?
Louise Cops
I attended Light Hall 77-82. My maiden name was Sharron
Tunley. Someone may also remember my older brother Neil (2 years above me), Jason
Maltby (younger brother by 18 years), and I'm sure that someone will remember my husband -
Colin Lloyd (brother to Mark and Tracey who also went to Light Hall). Colin was
there about 9 years before me and I gather he made his mark. I'd be happy to pass on
any messages to anyone mentioned above. It would also be good to hear from anyone
who was there the same time as me.
Sharron Lloyd
Fun to find a site about my old school.. I'm now living in Sweden, and
you who know me from my time at Lighthall might not believe this, but yes I'm also a
teacher! We all grow up.. Big hello to all my old school friends. and not so good friends!
hejdå neale.
Neale Trilloe

Does anyone remember me? Neil Coombes who went to Light Hall between
1976-1981. I was in Miss Hazelwood's class lower school, can't remember form teacher in
Upper school. Head at the time Mr Greenfield aka the Beak. Teachers were Bertie Big shot
Boulton (chemistry) Mr Noble (maths) Mr Slater (English) Miss Arkenshaw (Biology) and Mr
Hinks -games (the only teacher to give me peter pump!) Drop me a line if you remember me
(good or bad!)
Neil Coombes
I went to Peterbrook from 74 - 81 and Lighthall from 81 to 86.
If
any one remembers me please get in touch.

Sitting at work and thought I would just google Light Hall School,
What a surprise to find this site. Its great to read all the comments.
I remember a lot of names, but not faces. (not that any of us would
look the same anyway!) I was best friends with Wendy Hall, who I
still keep in contact with. I have been in the states since 1980. I
met up with Karl OBrian not long after I had moved here, but lost
contact. Would love to hear from anyone that was there from 71 to 76

This
is simple curiosity really. When I was a teenager I met a blonde girl
who was known as "Scragg" at the Ice Rink. I remember she went to
Lighthall. Does anyone know of a girl by that name? We
were about 15 I suppose and around 1973.
Terry McCarthy
I was
at Lighthall from 1975 to 1980. I'm 40 now and can't belive it's been
24 years since I left. Any-one else out there from 75-80...?
Stuart Tyler

Just
found this site- I left Light Hall in 1976 and still see Craig Fraser
& Andy Ratheram regularily. Craig Davies sadly passed away 3 years
ago.
Chris Jones
I really miss Lighthall
School, the friends, the teachers, Mrs Timmins and Mr Eccleston are
the ones I remember the most! I was at the school between 1975 and
1980 formally known as Nicola Harris, my friends at the time were Kay
Hutchings, (excellent artist) Justine Cotrell (lovely and slim) and
Sarah Steanes (twin of Susan) who tragically died last year of school.
Would love to know what has happened to you all. We had some great
netball matches! we made terrible prefects, but had an enjoyable time
at the school.
Nikki Benton
Can anyone shed any light on a girl called Melanie Robinson (ice dance
girl). Present at Light Hall school between '75 -'80,lived in Windmill Road,
Solihull Lodge. There was a school reunion for those who left in 1980 which
I was unable to attend. When's the next one, we'll all be 40 soon, so lets
have another.
Stevie (No Email Address Supplied)
Remember Della, Julie Lisa et el,
didn't you all hang
around with Tracy Jones and her sister. I am now living in London, but went to the
Worthington Cup Final this year in Cardiff, walked into a pub and saw half the lads from
1976,77,78.
I had with me my son who is an Arsenal supporter, at last he has seen the light and is
slowly turning Blue. This year I reach 40, anyone from my year out there for a chat?
Tony Simpson
I left Lighthall in 1977 and I see a few names on here I recognise.
Hello to Sue, Karl & Michelle, I would like to get in touch with Paul Thacker, anyone
now what happened to him? Last saw him in the early eighties.
Glenn Moreton
Does anyone out there know where Michelle Reeves is. We used to hang
around with each other at Lighthall between '71 & '77. I now live in the U.S and
married Karl O'Brien also from Lighthall. If anyone knows of Michelle or wants to recall
OLD memories let's chat.
Sue Ralph
I went to Lighthall School from 1971 - 1976 as did my brother Philip
Collins and cousins. My best friends were Sharon Island, Susan Froggatt and Dorinda and
Georgina who lived at the fish shop at the Colebrook. I have not seen any of the year
group since I left and now work in a school myself.
Susan Collins
Attended between 1971-1976
John Loose
Susan, I'm sure I remember your cousin Lynn....I certainly remember some
of the folks you mentioned on the reunion site. I'm Karl O'Brien, left Lighthall in 1976,
loved cricket and golf. I am now in the USA, have been here since 1981.
I actually married another lighthall girl, Suzanne Ralph. Would love to chat and catch up
if you or Lynn remember me. If I remember correctly, Lynn lived right around the corner
from St. James School where I also attended.
Karl O'Brien
Hi and thank you for the message.
You were right, Lynn lived with her sister Dawn and younger brother Steven, on the corner
of Halifax Rd backing onto the park. I have no year group photos from when I was at
Lighthall, and I often see names I recognise but cannot put faces to them all. As I live
in North Solihull I don't get over to Shirley often' but I went over today. Lynn my cousin
has just brought a house in Chamberlain Crescent, she is doing fine. Do you remember Gail
Black who was a good friend of mine for many years? We went to all the same schools and
she lived a few houses from me. I am glad you are both well and look forward to hearing
from you soon, do you remember Glen Hatfield? I had a mega crush on him he also lived in
Halifax Road.
Susan Collins
I left Light Hall in 1975 & I remember being at school with Phillip
Collins & with Della Racardi's brother Dean. Haven't seen anyone from my year since the
last reunion which was almost 10 years ago.
Recently made contact with Carol Seal after almost 10 years ago but not contacted anyone
else.
I would like to contact my best mate's from school who where Terence Gill &
Carl Thomas.
Terence (or Terry as he was called) lived in Solihull with his mom & dad until he
married & moved to Coleshill. I did have his address but 3 house moves on, I am now
back in Shirley, I have lost his address.
Carl Thomas used to live in Wiseacre Croft but, again, I have lost his address as well.
If anyone knows their whereabouts please get in touch & if anyone fancies sorting out
a re-union them also get in touch.
Ian Giles
I'm trying to locate a long lost school friend Michelle Reeves.
The Family used to live in Shirley and Michelle attended Lighthall school. They all moved
to Earlswood in the Early 80's and I have lost touch. I would appreciate any information
that people could provide me.
Sue Ralph
Hi! I'm looking for a best friend who I lost touch with a few
years ago.
PAM BALLARD. We were both at Lighthall school and left in 1973. Please
if anybody knows where she is, or, if you knew me and want to get in touch, email
me! Thanks.
Linda Parker
Hi Linda
I am sure I was in your class when I started Lighthall school and you had a best friend
who was a tall slim girl but I can not remember her name. In our class were Lorrain Dodd,
Kay Holeman, Karen E.....? Do you remember Mrs Hunt, the French teacher who then
went on to become the deputy, and Mrs Philpotts our H.E. teacher with those boring office
practice lessons? I hope you are well.
Susan Collins
Attended this fine establishment 1967 through 1972. I find it very
difficult to remember many names of other pupils.
Peter Bustin
My name is Jean Spencer I went to Lighthall High School 1967 - 1972. I
have often wondered what has happened to a lot of people during this
time, particularly Lilla Pastor who was my best mate.
I remember a lot of the old teachers and couldn't help laughing at a
lot of the messages people have sent. I use to hate needlework and use
to get in a lot of trouble with Mrs. Morecroft because I had either
forgotten the work or just didn't want to do it. She once told me to
sew the curtains for the flat and I hadn't got a clue how to thread
the machine and several people came to my rescue.
Believe it or not I am a teacher myself and have a great laugh
remembering what we used to get up to. I have been teaching 25 years
now, and teach Biology.
Anyway enough of me, I would love to hear from anyone who went to the
school at the same time.
Jean Spencer
66 - 71 they say were the good old days. Scary to read so many almost
forgotten names, Tony Knight and Palky were inseparable if I
recall.......
Some other names for you, Kim Randle, Craig Styles, Pete Harper, Dave
Potter, Dave Proctor, Martin Smith, Martin Atkins, John Keogan,
Joseph........?. Steve Hinson
I understand Arthur Dodd lost his life very young as a result of a
motorcycle accident, Steve Lake went to work for Prices Glass, but
then started his own insulation business, probably rolling in it
now..... And we were the last year of 'all boys'
Nigel Drinkwater
I attended Light Hall from 1966 to 1971 and remember some of the names
mentioned very well. The lists are too long but Light Hall was a pretty good
school and the discipline was good in the early days.
Teachers: Head; Greenfield, deputy; Ecelstone (very nice man), Lloyd,
Davis (Fungus) Hobday (Scratch) Shaw (Sam) Jordan (Fluey), Brian Hall (won a
car on The Golden Shot) married the art teacher, , Briggs [Brassneck]
(History) Gordon Hall, Tim Smith (PE teacher), Broadway (Straight Back)
Butcher (Physics), to name but a few.
Pupils: Steven Gotteril, Brian Palk, Kim Benson, Richard Horton,
Steve Lake, Ken Wiggett, Graham Page, Dave Fisher, Arthur Dodd, Nigel Handy,
Robin Lackey, Martin Hewins, to name but a few

1960's |
Here are a few of my memories of our school. I was one of the first
pupils at Lighthall School for Boys (the original name). As previously
mentioned, the School was not finished in time,- so we spent a term at
Sharmans Cross School while the building was completed. The time at
Sharmans Cross had been, to say the least,"difficult", cane, slipper
and bunsen burner tube, seemed to be the order of the day and if the
teachers didn't get you, the other charming pupils had a tendency to
give you the bumps and throw you into the Holly bush on your birthday!
So it was with great relief that I joined the other 120 pupils who
lined up in classes in the playground and trouped into the new School.
(I was number 22, - bit sad that I remember that). The builders were
still finishing parts of the building for that first month or so,it
made some of the classes rather interesting, with all the banging and
noise of the power tools never far away.
I can still clearly remember that first day in the brand new Science
Lab. -those Teak benches smooth and mark free and the smell of the
Teak oil was very strong too. Everything was so new, we even had to
unwrap the glassware to do our first experiment. Science was taken by
Mr Heaton (who left during the first year. The School in those first
two/three years was very easy going, (mainly due to the fact that
there was one teacher for every 10 pupils, disipline increased in the
third year of the School with the arrival of the Girls when we became
a Comphrehensive School. I seem to remember that twothirds of the
weekly Prefects reports involved girls, amazing considering this was
in their first year at the school where they were outnumbered by boys
four to one!
For the Record, I thought I would list the teachers and the subjects
they taught, that were there on that first day; Greenfield HeadMaster
English/Games, Heaton Science, Hobday Maths/Games/Science, Eccelestone
Dep Head Maths, Broadway English, Stone French/Drama/Music, Hudson PE,
George Wilkinson Woodwork (Great guy,a diamond), Hughes Commerce and
Accounts (you will have to rub it all out and start all over again
boy!), Trevor Smith Art, Rose Metalwork
In second year following teachers Joined; Keith Davis English, Butcher
Science, Hall Geography/Games (could hit a pupil with a chalk at
thirty feet), Crampton History/Games, Miss Chopan Pottery (every boy
wanted to do pottery suddenly).
Would be pleased to hear from anyone who remembers me, or knows
whereabouts of Patrick Hickey.

Hi to
all those who were the first to enter lighthall high school, i was one
of those chosen few, and what fond memories i have of it. I left in
1968 and after travelling around the world, and the country, i have
finally settled in Christchurch, Dorset. I remember many names from
the school, but I have only met one or two of the guys since leaving.
Finding this site certainly got the old memory banks working and some
of the names I remember are; Tony Corrie, Steve Dolphin, Roger Evans,
Paul Wood, Phil Croxford, Chris Kenny, Fraser Paterson, Steve Baggot,
Keith Tonks, Malcolm Tomlinson, John Bragg, Alan Curtis,Steve Brookes,
Gary Markley, Ian Aspury. We all joined the school after about 6
months at Sharmans Cross, It would be good to catch up with any of the
guys I've mentioned or those I haven't, I can't believe that it is 36
years ago that I left the school!

It's amazing what Google.com will find it you ask it! I
attended Light Hall between 1964 and 1969 - leaving before the CSE's due to
parents moving to London/Kent. The register list under "Class of late 60's")
of Anderson, Banks, Bellion etc. brought back some memories. Wasn't it
Steven Carter, Peter Chapman, Martin Cull, Richard Evans, John Gumery, Peter
Hiley (the star of "Treasure Island" I recall), Stephen Jarvis, Robert
Laguna, Martin Laishly...but wait I'm not there! Christopher Roots.
I was/am so tall no one would surely miss me. The school became mixed when
our year became the third year and I still have good memories of the
production of Toad of Toad Hall (the first mixed school production). I don't
remember any of the teachers nick names but I sure remember names like
Davies (English and RE), Shaw (Maths in 1st year) and another Shaw (Tim this
time) teaching games, especially rugby, in the 3rd and 4th year, Eccelston
(Deputy head-master and Maths in 2nd and 3rd year - especially recalling
that we were allowed to mark our own homework - I got caught once for giving
a mark for homework not done!), Chopin (Art and French). But who is "
lighthalloldboy@hotmail.com
"? The email address doesn't exist. Whoever you are, many thanks for
posting the message. For a while I was back in the late 60s (can it
really be 35 years ago!)

Hello all. I am living in Perth, Western Australia and wondering what
happened to the class of 64 -69 of the school. The Banks, Hancocks,
Loffmans, Hollingberries, Spencers, Groves and others. We were a few
of about 300 boys.

I attended Lighthall in the late 60's and have noted a few familiar
names in some of the messages. GREENFIELD was the head and ECCLESTOINE his deputy. I can
recall some teachers 'Sam' SHAW, 'Basher' BRIGGS AKA 'Brassneck', HUGHES AKA 'Pug',
BUTCHER (science), 'Harry Scratch'.
I represented the school at rugby and I think I can remember a few of the lads: Kim
BENSON, Steve CHAPMAN, Steve FRAZER, Pete BATES, John KENNY, Ken WIGGITT, Garry MULLIS
'Billy' BOSWELL. Like my brother (Tony CORRIE). I was keen on swimming and remember going
to Tudor Grange baths.
Clive Corrie
I attended Lighthall in the 60's - It was just a boys school when I started but became
'mixed' when I was in the third or fourth year. The Headmaster was Mr Greenfield. The
register was something like......
Anderson, Banks, Bellion, Bently, Betker, Brown, Butler, Carter, Chapman, Collins, Cull,
Evans, Gumery, Hiley, Holly, Jarvis, Jeffs, Laguna, Laishly, Miller, Morrell, Norris,
Perrot, Richardson, Shaw, Smirthwaite, Wragg .....These were all in my year at various
times...maybe not all in the same class.
My teachers included Grindle, Pug & Cyril......
Class of late 60's
I was in the first class at Lighthall after spending a few months at
Sharmans Cross while they were putting the finishing touches to the building.
I am 49 and now live in Canada. Is anyone out there that was part of that group.
I can remember a few names: Michael Benton, Steven Brookes, Roger Evans!
Tony Corrie
In reply to Tony Corrie - I was also at Haslucks Green junior school and remember Mr Fox
who was very scary! I can remember Mrs Carey who was lovely and Mrs Smith a very old
and ready to retire teacher who kept lots of pets in her class especially her pet
cockatiel.
I also went to Light Hall school and had Mr Eccleston and was in his maths group. I
remember Mr Slater my English teacher. I lived close to Shirley Park and left in Light
Hall in 1976. You may know my brother Philip Collins and my cousins Lynn and Dawn Collins
who all attended Light Hall.
you have said you live in Canada and my parents have been living there for the last twenty
years and live in Don Mills, Toronto. I still live in England.
Susan Collins
Sue, Nice to hear from you.
I think it was visit to England in February this year that raised my curiosity and caused
me to go on this web site. I took a drive around my old haunts and drove up the
driveway of Lighthall. I walked in and spoke to the receptionist who told me there
may only be one teacher still there from the time I left which was around 1968 (I'll have
to check my old school reports). He was only part time and had left for the day.
Unfortunately I don't remember your cousins. I do remember Mr. Ecclestone as I was also in
his Maths class. I have fond memories of him. Short and a round red face. As I sit
here there are a million things I recall. School trips to Switzerland, cross country
running through the woods at the back of the school, representing the school in swimming
at Tudor grange, life saving, being caned by the Welsh Commerce & Accounts teacher
(name forgotten), the wonderful old woodworking teacher who built the oak lectern that I
am sure is still there, Mr Stone the English teacher, (I don't recall Mr. Slater).
When I was back I took a walk through Shirley Park as I remember playing there in the
summer. I lived a bit of a distance away in Solihull Lodge but my friends lived by the
park.
Small World: I live in Oakville, Ontario and work in Don Mills. I am a police
officer at the Don Mills police station (33 Division) Your parents are in safe hands!

Hello all those oldies from the 60's and Lighthall high school for
boys as it was then called. I was one of the first to go to the school
and left in 1966 to work. My family left for Australia in 1970 and
after many degrees and teaching at various schools I now teach at
Wesley college in Perth Western Australia. That's a very long story cut
very short. I remember them all, the Banks, the Hancocks the Groves,
Holingberry, Lofthouse, perhaps even a Bracegirdle or two and many
others whose company I really enjoyed and sometimes miss. Greenacre,
Eccleston, Smith, Davies, an Irish man who had three fingers on one
hand an ex bomber pilot who taught accounting, and who set his jacket
on fire as he tried to hide a fag from us in his coat pocket and trips
to both Scotland to ski and the Norfolk broads to freeze and watch Mr
Smith casually get the top of the boat he was in charge of ripped to
shreds when he forgot to lower it when going under a bridge. Whisky
perloined from a !
friends fathers stash tipped back on a freezing winter morning on the
way to school and cigarettes gripped in leather gloves, strange days.
This is a land of tropical skies and a huge blue dome and you'd swear
it has never heard of winter. But I know it exists and others like me
miss you all.

Thank you for replying, I have not been online for a while, and am just catching up. My
dad was telling me you paid him a visit recently and was really pleased, My son Lee is 16
and is going into the uniform services until he is 18 when he will join the police. I have
actually been over to Shirley today and I get very lost in memories of friends I have not
seen for years. Each time I go back it has changed a little more. I actually went to view
a house to buy in Halifax Road but its a little far for me to travel to and from work. I
am glad you enjoyed your trip to England I had a lovely time in Canada its an amazing
country. Glad to know you looking after Don Mills.

Lighthall School
Opened as a Boys' County High School in 1964, girls were admitted four years later as the
buildings were extended and Lighthall became a comprehensive in 1974. |
