My family and I are very pleased with the
service never really had a problem, sometimes it got a bit busy and we
had to wait for ages for service, but they were very apologetic about
it, the food is not that bad, the salmon is very bland could have done
better myself, wasn't stunned unlike the one in Portsmouth. To conclude
needs to improve slightly but can't complain.

Surly wait staff, insolent greeter, long wait to be seated. Salad bar
unhygienic with dirty spoons and tongs. Bacteria love it there! Lukewarm
food, bland and boring. The management needs a kick up the backside!
They clearly don't care about their lousy dirty restaurant and the very
poor service all round. Quality is a word they've never heard of!

Eleven of us went for a meal to celebrate my son's 1st birthday
on 3rd Jan 2009. His grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins were
amongst us, all of whom have visited this restaurant on numerous
occasions due to the fact it is normally so family/child friendly.
Unfortunately this time we had to endure the attitude of Kieran, a
young, cocky and arrogant waiter. Kieran thought nothing of walking
past us, as my 1 yr old son was crying and say to his colleague, and I
am quoting his exact words, "f*****g screaming baby!"
We had up until this point been really enjoying our meals as well as the
service we were receiving from our waitress Holly, who was worlds apart
from Kieran in her attitude towards us and could not have been more
helpful.
When my son's father approached Kieran to ask for his managers name so
he could speak to him about his vicious comment, he simply said "Why?
What's your problem?" He was neither ashamed nor apologetic about what
he had come out with.
We spoke to the manager who apologised profusely on Kieran's behalf, and
said he guessed he was just having an 'off day'.
Kieran's nasty comment and attitude upset our whole family who are
usually regular, and enthusiastic customers at the Harvester in Shirley.
Due to the fact we have a lot of children in our family we will in
future be looking for a far more child and family friendly restaurant to
go to for our get togethers.

This from a friend who has no reason to lie. It relates to a dinner out
with other friends and makes me think about a meal I had there recently
that had to be sent back: Two diners had steaks, both of which
were not cooked as they requested. They were returned. It was possible
for our friend to see the Chef, who took the steaks off the plates with
his bare hands, waved them about to get off anything clinging to them,
and swapped them back onto the opposite plates. He added a few more
chips and returned the plates. Later, my friend watched whilst a
waitress placed their sweet orders on a table, helped herself to
something off the plates and then brought them over, smiling.
Personally, I will never set foot in another Harvester Inn.

Food arrived cold - it was even served in cold plates. We sent it back
but it was just heated in the microwave which made it dried up and very
unappetising. Not a place I would recommend unless you get there for the
early bird menu, then at least the price makes it a bit more palatable.

Arrived at 6pm to take advantage of the "early bird" offer - 30% off.
Was told that we could not be seated until 6.50 so when the bill came we
did not qualify for the discount (must be seated or our order taken
before 6.30). We were not informed about this by the staff and it looks
like a rip off!!

I dislike chain restaurants with a passion. 2 ounce of peas and a semi
cooked omelette before it reaches the restaurant is not my type of food.
However, me and my family visited the one in Shirley Solihull. We went
there recently spurred on by my youngest who can be a fussy eater. The
welcome was warming especially for my two girls. All our food was good
and I really enjoyed a 'tuna on a bed of rice' dish which was tasty,
well presented and well cooked. The atmosphere was good and we will go
back there again.

Dreadful, dreadful place. Ate here Christmas Eve and the service
and food was awful. Chicken wings ordered with fiery coating came
with a barbeque sauce coating and some were cold. Had been kept
waiting so long, didn't dare send them back as we may never have eaten.
Main courses didn't fare much better. The beef fajitas were not
sizzling (as advertised on the menu) and the beef was cut so thick the
jaw positively ached from the chewing.
