Hello, I wonder if anyone has any information with reference to the
family name of Findon and its association with Barston in the 19th
century? I am at present researching my family tree and any info would

I am trying to find any information about Mary Elizabeth Vernon (maiden
name not known) who married George Vernon of Hanbury Hall, Droitwich. I
believe she died aged 39 years which must have been in the late 1800s
and wonder whereabouts she was born or if there are any living
relatives. I am her great granddaughter

My Grandfather Albert Lloyd was married in Barston on August 10th 1901
to Emily Morgan. He is given as living in Barston on the marriage
certificate and his father was Aaron Lloyd (a gardener) In Census
Aaron's address is given as Eastcote, Barston Entire. Can any locals
whose families go back that far in the village shed anymore light on the
Lloyd family please. Many thanks

Hi, I don't know if anyone can help at all, but I am trying to
trace my family history. My name is Neill Barston and it seems logical
that we have connections with Barston village, though am not making much
progress with this at the moment. I have driven through the village
before and it seems a lovely place. I've done some research and there
only seem to be a couple of hundred people with the surname, so it is
likely we are all related in some way. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks, Neill

My father, an American pilot, was stationed at Barston Heath
during WWII. Is that around the village of Barston? I understand that
Barston Heath is still an active airport/aerodrome. I'm trying to locate
it - would like to visit. If Barston Heath is around the village of
Barston, does anyone remember the Yanks of WWII?

I am writing from Ottawa, Canada. My great grand-father, Robert
Reeve, apparently lived on a farm in Barston, close to the road from
Stonebridge, I believe. His wife's name was Elizabeth, maiden name
Hood. His son, Henry John, my grand-father was born April 11th 1867 and
married Fanny Chataway of Balsall or Berkswell. If anyone has any
information about these families, or the location of the farm, I should
appreciate hearing from them.

I have a very old tall case clock the faco of which is signed by one
Francis Kimberley. I believe this fellow lived Barston, England during
the mid to late 1600s. The clock has been dated to around 1690 to 1710.
Has anyone ever heard of this clockmaker? Many thanks.

Barston Association
Just thought I would let you know that there is another very active organisation within
the village of Barston. It is called The Barston Association and its main function is to
organise social events to raise money for local charities and for the benefit of the
village. We have around 70 members.
Our functions include annual favourites such as a Cheese & Wine luncheon, summer BBQ,
the Village Fete and, for the children, a Halloween party. We also hold additional
functions which are more flexible in subject and can range from speaker evenings, musical
entertainment, comedy nights, magic shows, discos and wine tasting.
Most of the money we raise each year is generated by holding the annual Barston Village
Fete which takes place each August Bank Holiday Monday in the field
to the rear of The Bulls Head pub in the village itself.
On average we raise in the region of £2,000 per year which is usually split into 4 or 5
separate donations which are presented to local charities at our AGM held each January.

Taylor / Harrison
My sister and I are trying to trace our ancestry and we found out from
older relatives that our grand parents came from the Barston area. Our
name was Taylor and our grand mother Edith Harrison married her first
cousin Sydney Charles Taylor. They moved to the Sheldon area in the
early 1910s. We would like to find out if there are still members of the
Taylor or Harrison families still living in the area.

Tranter
I am one of a group of cousins who maintain a web site - http://uk.geocities.com/barstontranters
It is dedicated to the history of our Barston Tranter ancestors. Members of the
group live in Canada, The United States, Australia as well as various parts of the U.K.
Henry Tranter and his sons John and Daniel owned and lived in the pair of cottages
near the Malt Shovel in Eastcote for most of the 19th century.

I am trying to locate English places mentioned in Shakespeare's plays. Is Barson actually
Barston?
There are some places on the database that I have not quite been able to pin down. This is
just such a case. This is another possible location for Barson. It is also in the area
that would have been Shakespeare's locale, but I can't say I know any more than that.
