Donate BIG at Mell Square’s Donation Days!
Charity Makes Plea as it Launches The Big Donation
Mell Square, Solihull
Friday 3rd September and Friday 1st
October
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) Store, located in
Poplar Way, Mell Square Shopping Centre,
in Solihull is encouraging people to donate BIG on Friday 3rd
September and Friday 1st October as part of its BIG Donation
appeal. The store will be hosting a day of entertainment and donations in
Mell Square on both these days, in a bid to increase the amount of
collections contributed to their dwindling stocks.
The Mell Square marquee will be in the Square on
both dates and team members will be distributing donation bags for you to
fill and there will also be a drop off point for people to bring any
unwanted items of clothing and bric-a-brac. In addition to this there will
be host family entertainment for all shoppers throughout the day.
The Big Donation provides the perfect opportunity for the Solihull community
to have a clear out; fill up a bag and support their local BHF Shop. Prior
to the donation days, you can pick up a bag from the BHF Store situated
Poplar Way in Mell Square Shopping Centre for you to fill up and drop off in
the Square on either the 3rd September or 1st October.
The Solihull Store is aiming to bring in 980 bags of stock – the equivalent
of £19,600 – throughout September and October and everyone can help by
donating good quality clothing, shoes, accessories, CDs, DVDs, books, toys
and bric-a-brac. It is all desperately needed to replenish the decreasing
amount of donations being given to the charity, the Store’s Manager, Monica
Smith said: “We are always in need of more items to go in our shop, it is
really important to keep both the levels and quality of our stock high to
encourage customers and ultimately raise plenty of money to continue the
life-saving work of the charity.
And it’s not just smaller items that BHF want you to donate... If
you’re planning on clearing out your home as well as your wardrobe why not
organise a FREE collection through the BHF for that good quality sofa you no
longer need, or drop by the Mell Square BHF Store with those unwanted
toasters and kettles.

Jadis Shadows Presents John Van Druten's 'I Am A
Camera'
The Dovehouse Theatre, Solihull
Saturday 2nd October 2010
Within the hedonistic world of early 1930's Weimar Berlin the impoverished
English author Christopher Isherwood observes and plans to complete his
masterpiece. Within his bohemian bedsit he passively interacts with a series
of individuals who act as inspiration for his book; his busty, interfering
landlady Fraulein Schneider, the 'gold digging' gigolo Fritz, Natalia
Landauer the wealthy Jewish daughter of a Berlin department store owner and
the rich but jaded, American playboy Clive. Finally, though, Christopher
meets his muse- the decadent, consciously shocking yet forever childish
Sally Bowles. Like a whirl-wind this irrepressibly English 'icon of camp'
crashes into his life... and things will never be the same again...
Yet above this society, dancing upon the brink a storm, a maelstrom is about
to break. As the characters live, drink and love the thunderous cloud of
Nazism gathers overhead.
Adapted from Christopher Isherwood's semi autobiographical 'Berlin
Stories/Goodbye To Berlin' the play captures a humorous, lively yet at
times poignant slice of historical life in a time now long since wiped away
forever.
This production is presented by arrangement with
Josef Weinberger Ltd.

Tiptoe Through the Tombstones
Solihull Arts Complex Theatre, Touchwood,
Solihull
Friday 15th and Saturday 16th October

Some months have passed since the ghastly events in Monument House,
well-known to those familiar with Norman Robbin's earlier 'A Tomb with a
View'. Now Mortimer Crayle, the crusty old lawyer gathers the last remaining
Tomb family members (as offbeat as their relatives) at the old house, to
discuss their inheritance.
Fog descends on the cobwebby corridors of the mansion. Things and
people..are seldom what they seem in this glorious spoof - a worthy sequel
to 'A Tomb with a View'.
No previous knowledge of the original story is required.
