Visited the Drum & Monkey today for Sunday lunch & it was awful. The
service was very very slow, when the food arrived it was just warm and
they got our order wrong. When I sent back the plate it still came back
wrong and the chips had clearly been cooked a while ago and left to keep
warm, they were horrible. I was so disappointed with my visit as I'd
been before for drinks and it's a lovely place but the food just isn't
up to scratch. There were a number of diners complaining about their
food this afternoon and I can honestly say I won't be eating there
again. £40 down the drain...

Had large family celebration in September 2011 and found the staff
fantastic and very helpful despite lots of unusual requests from us!
Food beautifully presented piping hot and very tasty. will be going back
and would recommend it anyone.

Visited this pub one lunchtime with a friend and we will not
be returning. Lovely interior but slow service. The food does not live
up to the description on the menu. The Ploughman's lunch was served with
stale bread, no butter and arrived at the table 20 mins before the hot
meal i had ordered. We were told that there is a 'cold' chef and a 'hot'
chef. More communication please!!!!!

The staff here are extremely helpful and very friendly. That was
all the staff not just one or two. The food was lovely and I would
certainly go back and recommend others go too.

Newly refurbished by Greene King, Only been open for two weeks, its
interior is excellent, warm & cosy with great staff and good food at
reasonable prices. Beer garden is a bonus with good facilities, enclosed
gardens etc.

We also thought it was too cold but at least managed to sit by a
fire that was lit. Really pleasant and efficient bar service. Food
slightly above average for this type of standard pub menu although not
everything on the menu was available which was disappointing but all
five of us enjoyed what we had. Service was OK, but the waitress looked
scruffy and wore a dirty uniform which was off-putting.

I was rather anxious when reading the comment below as we had
already arranged to meet friends here for a meal. We meet them every
year when they travel to Crufts at the N.E.C. and had a very pleasant
time here last year. I need not have worried. The room was warm (we
sat by the coal fire and the radiators were on). It was very
comfortable, with good food and very polite service. Clearly when your
previous reviewer called, the pub had only just changed hands. In the
three weeks since then they have obviously sorted things out. We hope
to visit again and wish the new management all the very best.

I visited the Drum & Monkey last night and wasn't very impressed, it
appears that, as of yesterday, the Chef & Brewer chain no longer run the
pub. The pub was cold, even though it was zero degrees outside the
previously used log fires were not even lit and the radiators were only
luke warm to the touch. The service was very slow and we witnessed 2
different couples complaining about the slowness of the food arriving,
there was no wine list available and they were "using the wine left by
Chef & Brewer" so had to bring bottles to our table for us to inspect.
The staff were unfamiliar how to work the chip and pin machines. I was
sadly disappointed with our visit, it used to be a lovely, warm friendly
pub which has lost it's spark since being taken over by the new brewery
and I will not be visiting this pub again. I understand that this may
have been their first day under the new management team but it seemed
very unprofessional and unorganised with inexperienced staff.
