Blythe Valley Park is
being developed as a joint venture between Prologis Kingspark and the British Land Company
PLC, with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
It is described as a prestige development on a grand scale of 111,484 m2 in a parkland
setting of 170 acres. |
Access to the park will be from the
M42 Island with traffic leaving crossing a soon to be constructed bridge over the
motorway. This will join the A34 at a T junction ! between the M42 and the new Box Trees
Island.
 |
All infrastructure and
structural landscaping is scheduled for completion by January 2000. But building work will
be on going for the next 7 years. It is thought that the completed development could
provide work for up to 10,000 people. |
According to the
developers great care has gone into the environmental planning with particular attention
to such issues as water drain off and its effect on the River Blythe which is an SSI -
area of special scientific importance.
Concern must be given however to the effect on local traffic. The use of Widney Manor Rail
Station with newly completed cycle storage facilities and the cycle way between it and the
park has been put forward as one method of reducing traffic congestion and it's resulting
pollution.

The site will include a country side
park to form a buffer between it and the A34, M42 and Shirley Golf Club.
