Just started using this pub with my sons. Very nice and welcoming, nice pleasant staff which are always polite.
Friendly bunch of customers. Nice place.

Went yesterday lunchtime with 5 children, found the staff very friendly, the food delicious and big portions. Even though the three families ordered and paid separately the food came at the same time, which was great. Some of our friends had cycled there and one of the bikes was in need of an allen key, the staff went out of their way to find one for us. Thank you

I'
ve visited twice now to put it to the test and found the food not very impressive the young staff have attitude problems and you're stared at like you have two heads if your not a local. felt most uncomfortable both times. not very welcoming at all

Many thanks to Keith, Ruthie and Alan at The Bluebell for your kindness following the death of my son Danny. What a send off! and couldn't think of a better place for his bench to be. Thank you

I've only just started visiting this pub as it is a fair journey from where I live but it is definitely worth it. An appealing range of ales and especially ciders. The food on offer is both filling and good value, which is exactly what you want from such a pub.  A superb alternative if you like proper beer and cider.

The venue for the first ever He-Man ho down which took place 28/04/05. A meal which consisted of enough meat for at least 4 people was served up to six willing participants.  By the end it was carnage and only two of us (myself included) managed to finish the hefty portion although there are rumours that I was actually the overall winner by half an onion ring!  Suffice to say one week later my stomach is still stretched to four times its normal size and I wake up in the dead of night screaming as I awake from a mixed grill nightmare.  All in all the food offers exceptional value for money but is not for the faint hearted!

Visited the pub last Saturday.  Nothing wrong with the beer, the food is cheap but is a limited choice and very basic.

I used to live, well I grew up there, I am Julie's son, it was a nice place to live, and I know it was the best pub around for a long time.....I'm told it went downhill though after we left.  I am amazed to hear that the climbing frames have gone.

I agree with the anti-child point. We called in after a quick walk and within a minute of my 7 year old walking in we were told where he could not go. We have just come back from Italy where we were never made to feel unwelcome with our children. We made a quick decision to leave and spend our money somewhere else.

We love this Pub, but we can't use it anymore, as it's really "anti-child"! A shame, 'cos the Beer is so good!

I do love this place too, but now there is no climbing frame or play stuff for the kids which is a great shame. They can have felt tips etc. in the conservatory but in the summer. I think they'll need more.

The ONLY place to go if you're a forty-something or taking the kids! Good mix of people/ages, great atmosphere & surroundings (canal-side/trees/fields), good selection of beers (incl. guest ales) and food. Just chill and enjoy - love it there!!

Would love to speak to others that used to go to the cider house when Julie and Dave were there. and after, where are you all now?

Nice place to go for a relaxing drink with friends or loved one especially in the summer when you can sit by the canal and play on the climbing frame hehehehe even if you are 21 like myself.
Jenny "big kid " Gartland

I have been drinking in here for over 10 years. Great country pub atmosphere, especially in the summer.

Always good food and good beer. The staff are nice too!
Mike

There can't be a person young or old who wouldn't fit in somewhere at the cider house. whether its the canal-side garden/play area, the "conservatory"(?) the bar or the lounge or outside at the entrance. That's what I like most about it......80% of folk have never met yet it still has a feeling of community. Considering the remoteness of its location, I've never been inside this place and found it empty.

Basically the best atmosphere for a pint in the region, the food can be interesting and is always inexpensive and filling, and the kids like it there because they are not told to shut-up all the time.
